Folio 3a

…is the absolute Owner of sovereignty. The hearts of the kings of the world lie between two of the fingers of the All-Merciful. He is the Mighty; the loftiness of His glory is countless and endless. He is the Exalter: were the whole world to become a single soul and stand against a servant whom He has favoured with His gaze of beneficence, no one could harm him.

He is the Abaser: should all the children of Adam do good to a servant whom He has deprived because of his evil deeds, that servant would still not find everlasting salvation. He is the Everlasting: though the life of the world run out and the sky collapse, He does not perish. He is the Subduer: no tyrant and no proud one escapes His sudden vengeance.

«Glory be to Him in whose hand is the dominion of all things; to Him you will all be returned.» «When He decrees a thing, He only says to it 'Be', and it is.»

Blessings and peace be upon the sultan of that most exalted station, whose end is felicity — upon him who walks with the bearing of the sun, of whom it was said «Glory be to Him who carried His servant by night from the Sacred Mosque», the full moon of the darkness, the sun of guidance, the light of mankind, the master of the station «two bows' length or nearer», Muhammad al-Mustafa.

After him, may they be upon those on earth and upon the exalted assembly of angels as well. His weak community is the best of communities, for it bears the glad tidings «You are the best community brought forth for mankind». By the verse «Over My servants you have no authority, except those of the erring who follow you», obedience to the divine commands is the necklace about the necks of those who affirm God's oneness.

Mecca and its surroundings are guarded from Satan, whose foundation is the curse, and have been granted mercy. May blessings be upon his family, his companions, his descendants and his friends as well. As the saying goes, «My companions are like the stars; whichever of them you follow, you will be rightly guided»: each of them is a star of guidance that leads to the Kaaba of hopes, and to those who follow the traces of felicity they are guides on the right path.*1

May God's good pleasure be upon them all; by the majesty of His mercy may He pour grace upon their souls until the Day of Judgement.*2

QUATRAIN — Do not let go of remembering me; give my ready coin to Him; make my eye see by the beauty of al-Mustafa. If the weaving on Adam's head returns to dust, grant me a refuge in a mote of al-Mustafa. TRANSLATION — By the light of the divine word make my heart wise; give me, with my two eyes, an eye that sees.*2*3
